Who we are
The Locker Room (“TLR,” “we,” “us”) operates a sports-first social and NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) platform for student-athletes. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Contact us at casey@tlrsports.io.
A note about minors
TLR is used by high school student-athletes, some of whom are minors. We take the privacy of minors seriously.
- Users under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.
- Users aged 13–17 require parental or guardian consent to use TLR. A parent or guardian provides consent and has ongoing oversight of the minor’s account — including the ability to review the account, approve NIL deals, and request changes or deletion. The student-athlete uses the account day to day under that parental oversight.
- Parents/guardians can review, request changes to, or request deletion of their minor’s information at any time by contacting casey@tlrsports.io.
Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account info: name, email, role (athlete, parent, fan, brand, athletic director), school, sport, position, class year.
- Age information: at signup we ask for your date of birth to confirm you are old enough to use TLR. We do not store your full date of birth. We store only your birth year and whether you are a minor.
- Profile content: photos, stats, bio, highlight links (e.g., Hudl), posts.
- Video you upload: highlight and recruiting video recorded in the app or chosen from your device library.
- NIL deal information: deals proposed, accepted, amounts, and disclosures.
- Safety activity: content you report and accounts you block.
- For parents/guardians: identity and consent records.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data (screens viewed, actions taken), device information, and log data.
Third-party content and service providers:
We use a small number of vendors to operate TLR. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
- Supabase — data storage, user authentication, and server functions. Your account and profile data are stored here.
- Mux — video hosting, encoding, and streaming. Video you upload is transmitted to and stored by Mux so it can be played back in the app.
- OpenAI — automated content moderation. Text you post, and a still image taken from video you upload, are sent to OpenAI’s moderation service to screen for harmful content before the post is shown. This is an automated safety check.
- Hudl — we embed Hudl highlight videos. When you view embedded Hudl content, Hudl may collect data under its own privacy policy: https://www.hudl.com/privacy
- Apple — app distribution and device services.
How we use information
- To operate athlete profiles, the social feed, video playback, and NIL deal flow.
- To support NIL compliance (deal disclosure, clearance, and records for school/PIAA purposes).
- To confirm age eligibility and apply the protections that come with a minor account.
- To screen posted content — including video — through automated moderation before it appears, and to review content that is reported or flagged.
- To communicate with users and provide support.
- To maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell the personal information of minors.
How information is shared
- With schools/athletic directors: compliance and disclosure information relevant to their student-athletes.
- With brands: limited profile information necessary to facilitate NIL deals the athlete and parent/guardian choose to engage in.
- With parents/guardians: access to their minor’s account information and deal approvals.
- Service providers: vendors who help us operate (e.g., hosting/Supabase), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal: when required by law or to protect the safety of users.
We do not share more than necessary, and NIL deal-making by minors requires parent/guardian consent.
Data retention & the lifecycle
Accounts may persist across life stages (high school → college → alumni/fan). Users and parents/guardians may request deletion at any time via casey@tlrsports.io. We retain compliance and disclosure records as needed for legal and school-reporting purposes.
Your choices & rights
- Access, correct, or delete your information (parents/guardians may do so on behalf of minors).
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates here and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes affecting minors will be communicated to parents/guardians where appropriate.
